Heo YoungSaeng was the least talkative among the members during SS501 times. During SS501’s interviews, leader Kim HyunJoong and Park JungMin, Kim HyungJun were the main members who talked, while Heo YoungSaeng would normally keep quiet.

We met Heo YoungSaeng, who is currently in the midst of his activities with his solo album and same titled title song ‘Let It Go’, at the waiting room in Mnet’s music program ‘M!Countdown’. It has been a long time since we met him and he is still not talkative as before. He looks like it is not easy for him to open his heart to talk even to a reporter whom he should be familiar with. We asked about his feeling on his solo activities first. His answer is as short as usual.


“I felt empty and lonely. Because I use the waiting room alone, so it is quiet and I feel really bored. Members supported me a lot. Like today, HyungJun sent me text message to tell me to work hard. I also supported a lot on HyunJoong who is coming out as a solo artiste.”

5 members of SS501 ended their contract with their ex-agency DSP Media last June and went on their own ways. Kim HyunJoong chose Bae YongJun’s KeyEast, Park JungMin moved to CNR Media co-owned by Korea and Taiwan agency. Kim HyungJun joined S-Plus Entertainment and became under the same roof with Kang JiHwan. Kim KyuJong and Heo YoungSaeng came to their current agency B2M Entertainment.

Due to these changes in their agency in the past year, they changed from group to solo activities. It was a time of great changes. There must have been some difficulties faced in the process of coming out with a new album after more than a year.

“I don’t have enough time. Even though it has been over a year since I’m having activities, a lot of time were spent on agency contract problems. After I got into the preparation stage for the album, I decided on the title song very last minute and went for broadcast soon thereafter. That was very difficult. And it was even more difficult as I hurt my wrist at that time. It was a long time since I make a comeback and it is a pity that I could not prepare myself even more. It is hard work to be standing alone on stage. I also have a lot of worries that if my voice will break.”


Heo YoungSaeng has the most outstanding vocal among the 5 SS501 members. A lot of fans thought that Heo YoungSaeng will make his comeback with ballad or songs that will boast his singing abilities when they heard of news on his solo activities. However, it was nothing like anyone expected. Heo YoungSaeng stood in front of his fans after one year with a dance song.

“It seems like most people expected me to comeback with ballad. But I want to have a twist to it. I want to show that Heo YoungSaeng is able to sing and dance on stage by myself. I am not so concerned about what type of music I come out with. And I am not the main vocal of SS501. I am just a vocal. On the contrary, it is a burden to be known as the main vocal."

Besides Heo YoungSaeng, SS501 members have all debuted as actors. Kim HyunJoong in drama ‘Boys Over Flowers’, Park JungMin in musical ‘Grease’, Kim HyungJun in musical ‘Café-in’, ‘Kim KyuJong in webtoon drama ‘Seti’. Only Heo YoungSaeng has not been engaged in activities as an actor.

“I have received proposals for musical plays. But I wanted to be an actor only next year. For this year, I just want to work hard on my solo activities. Actually, I think it is not easy to act in musical plays. How to memorise that many script lines? Have to memorise even the actions. It is really very stressful. I thought about how I will be if I were to perform in a musical, but I think I will be very nervous.”

We asked about his future plans and he replied with a short answer “Activities in Korea”. There are no specific plans for overseas activities yet. Jungmin 'Involved in Car Accident' Resulted to Neck Injury (Let's Go! Dream Team)

The accident happened weeks ago but only revealed today and I was surprised by the news. If not for 'Let's Go! Dream Team' I think we would not know about this accident.

Actually many have already been worrying for Jung Min since it was reported in sn@pp that he was sick the day before the photoshoot (a day after Dream Team's shooting if I am not wrong) with a 40° fever followed by cervical vertebra movement disorder which the most common symptom of this is neck pain . At leastthis might be a very good time for us to get to know more about each member, something that we have never known or thought about before. As us, we have an interview with a very friendly guy, Park Jung Min. The first member of SS501 who released a solo single “Not alone” who, this time, here for “Do concert present Park Jung Min ‘Not Alone’ Thailand fan party” on Saturday May 7, 2011.
With his friendly outlook and his smile, these might be the magnet which has made everyone fall in love with him. But that is not all; his successful also came form his attempted. Not only speak fluently Japanese, he is now studying Chinese and getting ready to engage Asia and Chinese market after signed the new contract with Sony Music Taiwan at the end of last year.
Beside his hard working and his attempt, another thing that we saw from this guy who is the first row of Korean Idol is his responsibility to his works that also impressed us not less than his friendly outlook. He did not ask to postpone or cancel any schedule due to the accident in Hong Kong. Jung Min was wearing a weir while we do the interview, and we known from his staff later that sometime his finger still hurts. Because he always has a smile on his face which made us did not notice anything about his hurt. He also offered to stand by himself for the camera man to test and set the camera. After that he changed his cloths and came out again in a costume of his solo ‘Not alone’ which looks a lot different from whom we always saw.

Today Jung Min came with the logo of happiness, not only to do a good pose to the camera. He also spent time with us to talk about the new challenges as a solo artist, his side of a happy artist and his future plan.

OK –> In which way that you life has been changed from being a member of idol group to a solo artist?

JM: In past, we were in a group of 5 members but now I am a solo artist, I can say that it is a big changed in my life because I have never been doing a solo album before. At the beginning I was very nervous. But now I feel more confidence to do a solo work. Even though we have a producer for this album but I also giving my ideas and composed the songs, and do most of the process by myself.

OK:Have you been under the pressured when everyone is expected for your new album?

JM: Due to there were many people who expected and wait for my new solo album and also for myself. That made me wanted to show them myself as much as I can and also tried my best to make this album in ordered to return to the people who expected and waited for me. I also was the first members of SS501 who released the solo album then I was really focus on it in order to show this experience to other members that will be release a solo work later.

OK: You look very smart and cool while singing ‘Not alone’ what did your fan club say about this, because usually they will see you in a cute look.

JM: The concept of this song is cool, isn’t it? Actually since I was SS501, most of our title songs also have a concept which is similar to this song. I think it kind of related to those previous works, cool and smart. But for my fans, they already had seen who I am

OK: Heard that before you released this album you went to fitness and had been controlled foods

JM: Yes, I had to eat as least as I can and also do an exercises, one and a half hour in the morning and then again in the evening. I also have to drink as much water as I can. I lose 13 kilograms and my weight went down to 63. I think that it was too much, so now I am trying to gain some weigh. Now it is 68, this is the time that I tried to eat as much as I can and due to Thai food is very delicious and tasty so I have planed to come and eat here ^^

OK: Usually, how do you taking care of yourself?

JM: Normally, if it is about the skin I will take care of it myself, by using some cream. But the most important things are eating nutrient food, get enough sleep, and always take a shower and wash face. For my health, my mom is the one who taking care of it. And because I took a good care of myself, so before I came here I had filmed a CF for one of the cosmetic brand. ^^

OK: You always look very happy to your fan, how do you control your feeling and emotions?

JM: Actually I am not a person who always happy like everyone has thought, I also have a time that I got angry or not satisfy with things also. But personally, I think that I always express my emotions. When I am angry, I expressed it out and when I am happy I will be full of happiness.

OK: Forms the perspectives of being an artist, other artists are unlike you, they can’t be in a good mood all the time

JM: If talking about other artists, I do not know so well about it. To me, even if my mood is not very good, but for the fan who came to see me it is my duty that I have to smile to give back to my fan who loves me.

OK: Do you think that are there anything about you that will make your fans surprise to know about it?

JM: I think it could be when I get angry, because they never seen me when I got angry, so that might make them shock to see me like that.

OK: After finished all Asia tour you also planed to go to Taiwan for a series filming, right

JM: Yes, and I already started to prepare about it, I am a little worry because the shooting environment would be different from in Korea, also the culture is different. In contrast, this could give me encourages; it is very excited and would be so much fun.
OK: Could you tell us about your role in the series?　

JM: I will act as a main character, it is still on the process of writing up the character but from I have heard I will be playing a role of a millionaire.

JM: I have never thought like that. For me, to become an actor is to show off another side of what you can do. This is a very ordinary thing for Korean artist to sing and work as an actor/actress. But as I am an artist, the most important thing for me is to show out all of my capability. I used to work as an MC, also DJ, now I would like to focus with acting more.

OK: Could you tell us more about your future plan?

JM: Now is to focus with the Fan Meeting, afterward I will go to Taiwan to film a TV series. I also have a plan to release a new album in Japan during august. Then I will come back to Korea. I think that I also have series filming in Korea at the end of this year until the begin of next year.

OK: Have you ever thought about your life in the next ten years?

JM: Umm…when that time arrived I will be turning 35, right? I think I will still working in this career. But if it is possible, I would like to get marry and have one child.

Singer Kim Hyun Joong, who will release his first solo album entitled “Break Down,” said, “Bae Yong Joon gave me positive advice on my album.”

“I was just an idol when I held activities as a member of SS501, so I wanted to reveal my grown-up appearance as a strong man when I decided to debut as a solo singer.” — Kim Hyun Joong (25)

Singer Kim Hyun Joong, who debuted as a solo singer by releasing his first solo album entitled “Break Down,” held a press conference and a showcase at Jang Choong Gymnasium on June 7 and expressed his feelings. He introduced the concept of his new album, saying, “I am 26 years old in Korean age and it is still young to be classified as a grown-up man. I am actually not a type of macho man, but I just wanted to present a difference appearance not as an idol but as a man.” He had already experienced album production when he was a member of a group and he also participated in producing his album this time. He explained, “I visited America last year in June to find out my own songs, and I actively presented my own opinion when creating a dance performance and making a music video.”

I have tried to deviate from my previous image in SS501 and tried to improve my performance and make the impact of the performance much stronger. I wanted to be evaluated as “He is a real man’ and ‘He can sing a mature song.” As he already explained, his title song “Break Down” is a dynamic dance song with a strong beat and sound focusing on Kim Hyun Joong’s splendid dance performance. Rapper Double K participated as a featured artist. Kim continued to explain his album, saying, “People might have been curious about Kim Hyun Joong’s style in the first solo album. When I chose the title song, I agonized between ‘Break Down’ and ‘Please,’ and I chose ‘Break Down’ because I want to present a cool dance performance in the hot Summer. Romantic songs with sweet lyrics such as ‘Kiss Kiss’ are also included in my album.” The music video for the title song was unveiled during the showcase, and it also revealed Kim Hyun Joong’s Strong Image. He appeared as a muscular man with a dark and powerful image in the music video. Kim Hyun Joong said, “I made a promise with my physical trainer to work out for 100 days, and I became very nervous when 50 and 70 days passed, so I worked really hard since then. I also trained to strengthen my physical ability for a better performance as a solo singer while working out and playing soccer.” The fact that his album was the first album since he had moved to his new agency Keyeast, in which Hallyu Star Bae Yong Joon is the largest shareholder, raised more anticipation. Kim said, “Bae Yong Joon suggested I study music more, taking this chance, and he had showed any good music or dance video he came across to me. He actively supported my album production by checking videos filming my dance performance. And Bae, who has a talent in taking pictures, suggested shooting my album jacket photo. He seemed to study producing music albums as a representative of an agency. I really appreciated his advice and I am also very satisfied with the support from my agency.”

Among the members of SS501, he was the fourth member who came to debut as a solo singer. He frankly revealed that he was feeling pressure, saying, “When I looked at the other members who debuted as a solo singer, I realized that the title of “former member of SS501″ could not guarantee an easy way as a solo singer. I had to do everything by myself, and I tried to overcome myself with more practice whenever I felt difficulties. I had poor breathing and pronunciation, so I practiced reading books and newspapers while biting a cork in my mouth, and I could hit notes that I could not hit before by practicing.”

He mentioned Seo Tai Ji as his role model. He said, “Even though he sang different genre songs from me, he is still my role model as a singer. As for actors, there are many actors whom I respect, but now the actor Seol Kyung Gu, who is living in the flat below me, suddenly comes up into my head.” With the showcase held on the same day, he began his activities as a solo singer in earnest. Kim said, “Jang Choong Gymnasium will go through remodeling, and I will be the last singer who performs in this place before the remodeling. I will present a splendid performance during my showcase.” He revealed confidence and talked about his future plans, saying, “After I moved to my new agency, I had not held many performances, so I will actively perform at home and abroad from now on. I will begin holding fan meetings from August in Asian countries, and I will hold an Asia concert tour after I release my second album at the end of September. I have already begun working on my next album. You will be able to see my activities more as a singer and not as an actor this year.”

On June 8th, Kim Hyun Joong guested on MBC’s “Knee-Drop Guru” and talked about his training period before his debut with SS501.

He began by describing the strict environment of his former label, DSP Media: “It’s a company that makes you fend for yourself. As a trainee, I’d clean up the recording room in the morning and run 20 laps around the field. Every day, they’d add another lap until I reached 40. We also had to eat fast.”

He continued, “When we were being trained in singing, eight of us would be in one small room and had to sing together. It was hard to concentrate on what you were singing.”

MC Kang Ho Dong commented, “Your CEO at the time is known for being quite the scary man.” Kim Hyun Joong replied, “He was hard, but we said everything we wanted to. Even if he said, ‘What do you mean you need dancers, it’s just extra expenses,’ we would still say that we needed dancer hyungs and he’d listen and comply. He was like a father, and he would call me son. He thought cutely of me.”

When asked about SS501’s rivals at the time of their debut, he mused, “We were half confident in our ability to stand on equal footing with TVXQ. We thought of sneakily going from behind and then bursting out in front. It wasn’t necessarily a plan, but just the atmosphere at the time. The public naturally set it up like that for us.”

Reflecting back to his debut on June 8th, 2005, Kim Hyun Joong concluded, “After our first broadcast, I teared up. I think it’s because of that sense of achievement and because I remembered everything we had gone through as trainees.”

In a shocking revelation, singer/actor Kim Hyun Joong admitted for the first time to having gone through plastic surgery on Thursday’s MBC “Knee-Drop Guru.”

For his flower boy image and clear-cut features, Kim Hyun Joong carries the nickname “Walking Sculpture.” So during the show, Kang Ho Dong, the MC of “Knee-Drop Guru,” asked Kim Hyun Joong, “Is the ‘Walking Sculpture’ a work of god or a doctor (plastic surgeon)?”

Without much hesitation, Kim Hyun Joong answered, “It’s god-given but the doctor put the finishing touch on it.”

He further explained, “I broke my nose a long time ago after getting hit by a stone. So I got the bones fixed and a little nose job done.” Throughout the interview, he seemed very confident with his looks as he went as far to state, that “I’m very satisfied with my looks. Can’t you just tell? I wouldn’t switch it with Yoo Sae Yoon (the co-host of the show).”

On Thursday’s episode, Kim Hyun Joong also talked about his decision to sign with Key East Entertainment, what it’s like to work with Bae Yong Joong (head of Key East), and thoughts on his growing popularity.

The former SS501 leader has released his first solo mini album “Break Down” on June 7th simultaneously across the entire Asian region. The first showcase for his new album was held yesterday following the release of the MV for “Break Down.”

Kim Hyun Joong recently talked about the reason why SS501 members decided to pursue their own careers.

The singer was a guest on MBC’s “Knee-Drop Guru” and elaborated on the statement that he has made previously on “Radio Star“, saying, “If the agency doesn’t force me out, I don’t want to either.”He stated, “That statement was made when we had 5 months remaining on our contract. There was one more scheduled album to be released. I didn’t talk about the issues dealing with the agency with my members at the time. When our album promotions were over, we talked it over with all the members.”He apparently told his members, “Didn’t we show almost everything that SS501 can do together as one? I don’t want to disband, but I think it’d be good if we could also pursue our own paths. After talking with the members, we each pursued the paths according to our own colors.”When asked about the time when the CEO of his past agency (DSP Media) fainted due to health problems, he said, “I was a little fortunate that I had the opportunity to say, ‘I’m sorry’ to him before he fainted. If I didn’t tell that to him then, I couldn’t have come out like this today. If I won an award for a drama or on a music program, I wanted to say to him, ‘I did well. Please be healthy.’”
